Hong kong photo gun at head1/13/2023 This time, the sources said, there were 55 personnel from the Chinese PLA whereas nearly 70 personnel from ITBP and army had fortified the area and prevented their march deeper into Indian territory, sources said. The PLA had mobilised villagers from Tashigong to pitch Rebos (tents) at Charding-Ninglung Nallah (CNN) Track Junction to protest Indian action. ![]() The area had witnessed a similar incident in 2014 after it was decided to construct a small irrigation canal at Nilung Nalla under the MNREGA scheme that had been a sore point with the Chinese. Both sides pulled out banners and have been stationed on the ground, sources said, adding the army and ITBP was not allowing the Chinese to move an inch ahead despite the PLA claiming that the area belonged to China. The Chinese troops took positions on the perceived Line of Actual Control (LAC) and demanded that work be stopped as either side needs to take permission before undertaking any work, a claim disputed by the Indian side which says that as per the agreement between the two countries, information about construction needs to be shared only if it was meant for defence purposes. Officials said that around 55 Chinese troops arrived at the scene and halted the work in an aggressive manner, prompting the Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel to rush to the spot and stop the high-handedness of Chinese troops. Government sources say that local administration is constructing an irrigation canal under the MNREGA scheme to link a village with the ‘Hot Spring’ in Demchok, 250 kms east of Leh. ![]() NEW DELHI: Indian and Chinese troops are engaged in a stand-off since Wednesday in Ladakh’s Demchok area as the People’s Liberation Army ( PLA) troops have entered an area near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and have stopped the construction work on an irrigation canal.

Mad hatter cake1/13/2023 ![]() ![]() The published version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is about twice the length of Alice's Adventures Under Ground and includes episodes, such as the Mad Tea-Party, that did not appear in the manuscript. On 26 November 1864, Carroll gave Alice the handwritten manuscript of Alice's Adventures Under Ground, with illustrations by Carroll himself, dedicating it as "A Christmas Gift to a Dear Child in Memory of a Summer's Day". He subsequently approached John Tenniel to reinterpret Carroll's visions through his own artistic eye, telling him that the story had been well liked by the children. Though Carroll did add his own illustrations to the original copy, on publication he was advised to find a professional illustrator so the pictures were more appealing to its audiences. To add the finishing touches he researched natural history in connection with the animals presented in the book, and then had the book examined by other children-particularly those of George MacDonald. The girls and Carroll took another boat trip a month later, when he elaborated the plot to the story of Alice, and in November he began working on the manuscript in earnest. Page from the manuscript of Alice's Adventures Under Ground, 1864Ĭarroll began writing the manuscript of the story the next day, although that earliest version is lost. Manuscript: Alice's Adventures Under Ground Carroll, an amateur photographer by the late 1850s, produced many photographic portraits of the Liddell children-but none more than Alice, of whom 20 survive. "Pleasance" means pleasure and the name "Alice" appeared in contemporary works including the poem "Alice Gray" by William Mee, of which Carroll wrote a parody and Alice is a character in "Dream-Children: A Reverie", a prose piece by Charles Lamb. Robert Douglas-Fairhurst, who wrote a literary biography of Carroll, suggests that Carroll favoured Alice Pleasance Liddell in particular because her name was ripe for allusion. In June 1856, he took the children out on the river. Ĭarroll had known the Liddell children since around March 1856, when he befriended Harry Liddell. Scholars debate whether Carroll in fact came up with Alice during the "golden afternoon" or whether the story was developed over a longer period. In fact, the weather around Oxford on 4 July was "cool and rather wet", although at least one scholar has disputed this claim. Ĥ July was known as the " golden afternoon", prefaced in the novel as a poem. ![]() She finally got the manuscript more than two years later. Alice Liddell recalled that she asked Carroll to write it down: unlike other stories he had told her, this one she wanted to preserve. During the trip Carroll told the girls a story that he described in his diary as "Alice's Adventures Under Ground" and which his journal says he "undertook to write out for Alice". The journey began at Folly Bridge, Oxford, and ended 5 miles (8.0 km) away in Godstow, Oxfordshire. The three girls were the daughters of scholar Henry Liddell: Lorina Charlotte Liddell (aged 13 "Prima" in the book's prefatory verse) Alice Pleasance Liddell (aged 10 "Secunda" in the verse) and Edith Mary Liddell (aged 8 "Tertia" in the verse). 1.2 Manuscript: Alice's Adventures Under Groundīackground "All in the golden afternoon." Īlice's Adventures in Wonderland was inspired when, on 4 July 1862, Lewis Carroll and Reverend Robinson Duckworth rowed up The Isis in a boat with three young girls.Carroll published a sequel in 1871 entitled Through the Looking-Glass and a shortened version for young children, The Nursery "Alice", in 1890. Its legacy covers adaptations for screen, radio, art, ballet, opera, musicals, theme parks, board games and video games. The book has never been out of print and has been translated into 174 languages. The titular character Alice shares her given name with Alice Liddell, a girl Carroll knew. The tale plays with logic, giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as with children. It is credited as helping end an era of didacticism in children's literature, inaugurating a new era in which writing for children aimed to "delight or entertain". It received positive reviews upon release and is now one of the best-known works of Victorian literature its narrative, structure, characters and imagery have had widespread influence on popular culture and literature, especially in the fantasy genre. The artist John Tenniel provided 42 wood engraved illustrations for the book. It is seen as an example of the literary nonsense genre. It details the story of a young girl named Alice who falls through a rabbit hole into a fantasy world of anthropomorphic creatures. Paper towels are popular primarily among people who have disposable income, so their use is higher in wealthy countries and low in developing countries. By contrast, people in the Middle East tend to prefer reusable cloth towels, and people in Europe tend to prefer reusable cleaning sponges. This is 50% higher than in Europe and nearly 500% higher than in Latin America. Globally, Americans are the highest per capita users of paper towels in the home, at approximately 24 kilograms (53 lb) yearly consumption per capita (combined consumption approximately 7.8 million tonnes (7,700,000 long tons 8,600,000 short tons) per year). Within the forest products industry, paper towels are a major part of the "tissue market", second only to toilet paper. The growth in commercial use of paper towels can be attributed to the migration from folded towels (in public bathrooms, for example) to roll towel dispensers, which reduces the amount of paper towels used by each patron. Commercial usage, or otherwise any use outside of the household, accounts for the remaining third of North American consumption. Tissue products in North America, including paper towels, are divided into consumer and commercial markets, with household consumer usage accounting for approximately two thirds of total North American consumption. Some common brand names are Bounty, Seventh Generation, Scott, and Viva, among many others. Paper towels are packed individually and sold as stacks, or are held on a continuous roll, and come in two distinct classes: domestic and institutional. Resin size is used to improve the wet strength. They are sometimes bleached during the production process to lighten coloration, and may also be decorated with colored images on each square (such as flowers or teddy bears). Paper towels are made from either virgin or recycled paper pulp, which is extracted from wood or fiber crops.

The fields were further divided into strips 1/3 for the lord of the manor, less for the church, and the remainder for the peasants and serfs. A manor consisted of a manor house, one or more villages, and up to several thousand acres of land divided into meadow, pasture, forest, and cultivated fields. Manors, not villages, were the economic and social units of life in the early Middle Ages. If there were no heirs the lord disposed of the fief as he chose. If a daughter inherited, the lord arranged her marriage. On the lord's side, he was obliged to protect the vassal, give military aid, and guard his children. In a few days of Christmas feasting one year, William and his retinue consumed 6,000 chickens, 1,000 rabbits, 90 boars, 50 peacocks, 200 geese, 10,000 eels, thousands of eggs and loaves of bread, and hundreds of casks of wine and cider. William the Conqueror travelled with a very large household, and if they extended their stay it could nearly bankrupt the lord hosting them. This last obligation could be an onerous one. ![]() As well, he must feed and house the lord and his company when they travelled across his land. He must answer a summons to battle, bringing an agreed-upon number of fighting men. The vassal was required to attend the lord at his court, help administer justice, and contribute money if needed. When a vassal died, his heir was required to publicly renew his oath of faithfulness (fealty) to his lord (suzerain). ![]() A vassal held his land, or fief, as a grant from a lord. Looking at the past, this list might be out of date in a few months, but there are also some tools on this list that we have been using for years. So far we haven’t seen a prototyping tool that could replace Sketch as a design tool, but we see FramerX as a potential candidate. Examples are Figma, FramerX, Sketch or Invision studio. Our suggestion is to become an expert in 1 tool and only use the other tools for features yours doesn’t have.ĭuring the review of our tools, we noticed a trend towards platforms that combine design, prototyping, and development. It is difficult to find out which tool is the right one for you. There are too many tools available to create a prototype. Since that time a lot has changed in our prototyping toolbox. This is an update of a post we created 3 years ago. Therefore we decided to write a second post about the prototyping tools we use in our company and why. With new toolsets constantly being released it can be tricky to find the right tool for the job. Also, new team members post questions on Slack like “What tool do you use for …?”. At Hike One we have a lot of discussions about this topic. Are you up to date on today’s digital design tools? For a big design team like ours, it is important to use the same toolset and find a way to make it fit into our design process.
